Dojo Kun - Dojo Rules

The goal of our Dojo is to have each student become a better version of themselves through Karate training. According to Gichin Funakoshi, the true meaning of Karate is not tied to victory or defeat, but in the perfection of one's character. Our Dojo Kun was developed back in the 18th Century under Master Sakugawa and was made popular by Master Funakoshi in the early 1900's which we still practice today and is as follows:

一、人格完成に努むること

hitotsu, jinkaku kansei ni tsutomuru koto

Seek perfection of Character

一、誠の道を守ること

hitotsu, makoto no michi wo mamoru koto

Be faithful

一、努力の精神を養うこと

一、礼儀を重んずること
